Principles of an ISO 45001-compliant health and safety management system
- Leadership and employee involvement
Top management is responsible for the design, implementation and continuous improvement of the health and safety system. At the same time, involving and consulting employees at all levels is essential to building an effective safety culture.
- Understanding the organisational context
An organisation needs to identify the internal and external factors that affect its ability to achieve its health and safety objectives. This includes the context, working conditions and stakeholder expectations.
- Managing risks and opportunities
Identify, assess and manage hazards and risks in the working environment. In addition, opportunities are sought to improve the working environment and prevent accidents and occupational diseases.
- Compliance with laws and requirements
The organisation must ensure that it identifies and complies with all applicable legal and other requirements relating to health and safety at work that are imposed by stakeholders or agreements.
- Setting objectives and action plans
Management must set clear, measurable and realistic health and safety objectives. The achievement of these will be supported by planned measures and the provision of resources.
- Competence, training and communication
Staff competence and awareness of health and safety issues are key to managing risks. The organisation must ensure the necessary training, induction and effective internal and external communication.
- Monitoring, measurement and evaluation
The performance of the system is systematically monitored through audits, inspections and metrics. The results are analysed and used to support decision-making and development.
- Continuous improvement
The organisation must commit to continuous improvement of the TTS system by eliminating identified deficiencies, improving processes and promoting a safer and healthier working environment for all.
Preparing and updating the document
We can manage the entire health and safety system construction project or specific parts of it. Structuring and changing practices in line with the principles of responsibility and sustainability is much more than just creating documentation and requires the commitment of the entire workforce.
