Why is risk assessment important?

The aim of the work and work environment risk assessment is to identify the hazards associated with work, the working environment and working conditions and to find the best solutions to manage them. The assessment covers machine risks, chemical risks and occupational risks for each workplace and process, so that the overall picture of the company's risk factors is as accurate and practical as possible.

Well implemented risk management:

  • improve safety and well-being at work

  • reduce accidents and sick leave

  • brings savings and has a positive impact on premiums

  • improve efficiency and support business growth

What is the process for hazard identification and risk assessment?

Risk assessment is a systematic and recurring process that is carried out whenever working conditions, working methods or equipment change. However, the assessment must be updated at least every three years, even if there have been no changes.

The evaluation process includes:

  1. Planning the evaluation: identifying the groups of employees to be evaluated and forming an evaluation team.

  2. Identifying hazards and risks: identifying risk factors in the workplace through observation, interviews and checklists.

  3. Assessing the significance of risks: determining the likelihood of risks and the severity of the consequences.

  4. Design and implementation of measures: agreeing how to manage or eliminate risks.

  5. Monitoring and updating: assess the effectiveness of the measures and keep the evaluation up to date.

The assessment is documented and serves as the basis for a workplace survey to be drawn up with occupational health, for example.
