Joni Virkkala as Safety and Quality Specialist at Protect
Joni Virkkala, an engineer in industrial economics, started at Protect at the beginning of November as a safety and quality specialist. He has worked as a technical sales representative for 8 years in a position where his clientele consisted of demanding customers from industry and the construction sector. Prior to this, he gained experience in industry as a maintenance technician and mechanical engineer. He is also an accredited periodic inspector for fall protection equipment. After studying engineering, Joni wanted to immerse herself in industrial environments and get more involved in the development of companies. His studies consisted of engineering, management and financial management, and I went into production automation and energy technology," says Joni, adding that he now wants to use his skills in a broader industrial environment. That's why he became interested in a specialist position at Protect. Joni finds the job of a safety and quality expert very interesting because it allows him to develop the operations of customer companies in the areas of safety and quality management. The job description seemed to him to be varied and the work was people-oriented. "My main values include continuous improvement, sustainable development and creating customer value. Protect offers the opportunity to work on these issues and the company's extensive induction programme provided excellent preparation for the specialist role, Joni reflects. Joni is at his best when working with B2B clients as a developer of occupational safety, technical design and process development. He says his strengths include a systematic way of working. He believes it is particularly important to involve staff in the change and to increase understanding of safety and quality management throughout the organisation. I am an inspiration and an advocate of a positive safety culture, developing operations and continuous improvement. I am looking forward to working with Protect's customers," Joni reflects.
