Protect and the Central Chamber of Commerce to work together to tackle unethical practices and abuses

The cooperation offers Protect's customers the opportunity to use the Notification Channel service provided by the Central Chamber of Commerce in a simple and affordable way.

The Notification Channel service - what is it about?

The Central Chamber of Commerce's service is based on the EU's whistleblowing directive, which requires companies with more than 50 employees, among others, to have a channel for reporting unethical activities and misconduct. The directive is due to come into force nationally in December 2021, so this is a topical issue for many companies. A whistleblowing channel will allow companies to be informed of potential problems at an early stage and to address them. This will also reduce the cost of correcting problems. Through this channel, a whistleblower can report a finding to a company anonymously. Only pre-defined persons within the company, who are responsible for processing the reports, have access to the report received. Although the notifier remains anonymous, the channel allows for a discussion with the notifier, for example by asking further questions about the notification. Under the future law, the notifier must be informed within 3 months of receipt of the notification of the measures taken in response to the notification.

Developing a network of cooperation brings added value to customers

In the spring, we decided not to build a tool for reporting irregularities into PRO24. However, our customers continued to communicate their needs to us, so we started to look at our network of partners to find a solution.- With the Central Chamber of Commerce we found a common value base and we both saw an opportunity to add value to our stakeholders through cooperation. We also looked at the Notification Channel service itself and were convinced that it works well for a wide range of companies," says Pertti Salo, CEO of Protect.
